Welcome back!
Today our STEM queens began their two week coding journey with us. The girls started by introducing themselves and getting to know one another. This was done through interactive games such as ‘Two Truths and a Lie’. Afterwards, we logged into our Google Classroom accounts and had the girls familiarize themselves with last year’s material. Since many of our students came from different skills levels, returning students were encouraged to continue where they left off by taking on a more moderate level of languages/problems/puzzles, such as Python, while newcomers began brushing up on basic coding skills such as Scratch. The day concluded with students receiving constructive feedback about potential alterations that could be made to their code in order to make it more efficient.
We are super excited to get this brief, but important intro out of the way and begin working on building up our girls coding and problem solving skills over the course of the next two weeks.
Tomorrow’sclass will allow for our new students to finish up their Scratch projects and display them for the class while our more advanced ones will finish up their Python and Xcode projects.
Please note, over the next few days the girls will be bringing home permission slips/forms that need to be filled out by their parents and returned to XX Coders as soon as possible. These forms are to allow for various field trips/activities we will be partaking in such as our visit to the Microsoft Flagship Store at
677 5th Ave, New York, NY 10022 on
July 26th from 9:30AM –
5:00PM . If you have any questions regarding the forms, please feel free to contact Aditi at
