XXCoders at High School East
XXCoders at Wyandanch FLC
XXCoders is an educational program in the town of Wyandanch that promotes teaching girls about Computer Science and the fun it brings to our lives with the ultimate goal of closing the gender gap and promoting diversity in the tech industry. Our mission includes weekly after-school program, a two-week long summer camp, hackathons, the Hour of Code, and field trips to tech companies’ offices in New York City such as Google and Microsoft. By learning about Computer Science and seeing the real world applications of the skills they are learning, these girls will better understand how the world around them works and be better prepared for real careers in various career paths that require STEM knowledge, including in the tech industry. We’re looking forward to coding with the girls for many years to come!
XXCoders at Friendship Circle
This part of XXCoders is unique because it does not deal with only girls but rather another underrepresented group of people in computer science: people with special abilities. This program is being held at the L’Chaim Center in Dix Hills. It started this fall and will be continuing throughout 2019. The experience has been rewarding to all and as the organization continues to grow for years to come, so will this branch of XXCoders.
XXCoders Library Coding Workshop
This program of XXCoders partners with our Half Hollow Hills East girls to do a coding workshop now hosted every Tuesday at the Half Hollow Hills Community Library will be starting soon due to COVID-19. This coding workshop is meant for grades 6-8. Make sure to join us for wonderful nights of fun coding activities and challenges!
