The moment everyone has been waiting for! Python Day was upon us today as the girls enjoyed their lunch followed by some freelance codding on websites such as datacamp, codeacademy and snakify where they advanced their skills by playing around with more advanced coding concepts such as ‘while’ and ‘for’ loops. These tools, along with many others the girls discovered, were created to help shorten the response time between the code itself and real time. This means that the girls were building more efficient programs that ran quicker and more accurately. After this, we decided it was time for a break and the main activity of the day- our pythons. As our instructors brought in the snakes many girls seemed very nervous and even kept themselves at a distance, initially. However, after seeing several of their mentors both play around with the snakes and take a few selfies many of them decided to pet and even pick them up. Overall, it seemed when the snakes left many of the girls were wishing they would’ve stayed a little longer. The girls wrapped up the day with a little more codding practice as they prepared themselves for creating their final projects on Friday. As always, we encourage parents to also play along with their children by trying out these online platforms themselves.
