Hello Parents and Students!

Today was truly an amazing day for XXCoders. We were given the opportunity to go to Google NYC for our field trip! To start off our trip the girls woke up bright and early to head to Chelsea, NY.

Once we first arrived the girls were given guest badges as a pass to walk around the multiple buildings that Google has to offer. We started off with a tour thanks to Jason, who took us around the different floors to explore what a Googler goes through on a daily basis. We also learned that Googlers are given all three of their meals for the day given to them by Google themselves! They have a chef that teaches them or prepares their daily meals. Then we learned that since Googlers work consistently and efficiently they typically work more than the average 40 hour work week. Every employee that we have met has said the same thing that Google is one of the best if not the best company to work for.

We then headed to another building that Google has called Code Next. Code Next is where high school and college students/interns of Google NYC go to create different pieces of code for their projects and applications. We were given another tour around Code Next to show the girls the different workshops/classrooms that Google has to offer the students there. We were also introduced to the different 3 Dimensional printers that Google has for little projects, these 3D printed objects were also used as decor.

We made our final stop at the Growing with Google building. This building is mainly used for workshops that are offered to the public for different classes and opportunities taught by Googlers. Most of these workshops are invite only so they were all busy! The Growing with Google building also listed all the partnerships and other New York native companies that they work with. These companies include: Meatpacking District, NYC Tech Talent Pipeline, Civic Hall, NY Tech Alliance, The City University of New York, Hudson Square Business Improvement District, Boys and Girls Clubs, and plenty more!

Once we were done with our trip to Google NYC we all headed back to Long Island for lunch thanks to Mrs. Patil! A huge thank you to Jason from Google, Mrs. Patil, the parents that chaperoned, and Ms. Diana for this trip. After lunch the girls were able to go home and most likely tell their families how their trip went! Can’t wait to see you all tomorrow for the last day of XXCoders 2019 Annual Summer Camp!
