Hello Parents & Students,
Today we distributed laptops to girls in need who are interested in joining our XXCoders Remote Summer Session! Thank you to Ms. Reynolds from the Family Life Center at Wyandanch for allowing our girls to utilize the laptops. At noon today we also gave out pizza and free swag bags to the girls for lunch before we began our Remote camp. We first started off with introducing ourselves and learning how coding is applied to the majority of our online existence. Then, we began to code on Scratch an MIT online software that’s user friendly for the students who are beginners at code. The project was to have the mouse cursor control a boat sprite complete an obstacle maze towards an island. We learned if-then or if-then else statements and applied examples as to how they’re expressed in code. I can’t wait to see you guys tomorrow for our next Scratch lesson.
