Amanda Kavner: Advisor
Ms. Amanda Kavner was always interested in science and technology which is what led her to a career in Chemistry as a Cosmetic Chemist before becoming a Chemistry and Biology Teacher. Since she began using and coding on computers from when she was a child when her father brought home an Apple IIC computer, she went back to graduate school for a second Masters in Educational Technology so that she could learn how to integrate technology in her classroom appropriately to help student’s understanding of the material and to help students learn how to appropriately use technology in their everyday lives. Ms. Kavner loves to help students who want to learn to code and as a female coder, especially loves to help guide the next generation of female coders to help bridge the gender gap of such a male dominated field. This fall, Ms. Kavner will be starting her phD to focus on Neurocognition and the utilization of Educational Technology in Science Classrooms.
Diana Guerrero: XXCoders Instructor & Social Media Coordinator
Diana is a recent graduate from Farmingdale State College as a Computer Programming and Information Systems major with a concentration in Programming. She found her passion for coding through her first Computer Science class during her freshman year in college. Due to a great selection of Computer Science professors at Farmingdale State she was able to learn a vast array of programming and markup languages. As a STEM major Diana has noticed that many people in the Computer Science field are male with a very small female presence. With opportunities such as XXCoders and the Supporting Women in Computing Club on campus she’s able to encourage younger female generations to get into different informational technology fields such as programming. Diana is also fluent in Spanish and is able to show her fellow Hispanic communities why the presence of young females in technology is important to our society. She’s actively applying to full-time positions to take the next step to start her professional career in the Tech Industry!

Serena Inderjit: XXCoders Head Volunteer
Serena Inderjit is a Junior at Half Hollow Hills High School West. From as far back as she can remember, she always had a keen interest in computers, electronics and gadgets. In middle school, she joined the coding club and realized that she has a real interest in learning about the field of Computer Science. She participated in the Coding Club all 3 years of middle school and joined the Robotics Club. As she progressed through middle school, Serena became absolutely fascinated by the subject. She would spend hours on CodeCademy and ultimately decided to take a Java course over the summer. When she got to High School, she joined XXCoders and is very excited to volunteer her time to help other girls learn to code. She is also a member of the FRC Robotics team. Serena hopes to pursue a career in computing and software because it is a field that she enjoys.
Samaira Pawa: XXCoders Volunteer
Samaira Pawa is a junior at Syosset High School. Since Samaira grew up seeing her Rotary Club Mother and Lion’s Club Father, she always tried to help her parents whenever she could, whether it’s making flyers, packing goody bags for donations, or volunteering to serve food at charitable events. She felt that XXCoders was the perfect opportunity for her to delve further into the world of coding, while also being able to help other girls explore coding themselves. In the future, Samaira looks forward to incorporating coding into her life.
Archita Gouda: XXCoders Volunteer
Archita Gouda is a junior at Panther Creek, North Carolina. Archita has been involved in STEM-related activities as far as she can remember. Although Archita looks forward to having a major in Psychology, she has a great background in Engineering and Technology. Archita joined XXCoders as a volunteer and continues to show interest throughout summer camps by communicating and visiting New York to help with students. She looks forward to have a major in the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context; continuing with a minor in computer science.
