XXCoders Annual Summer Camp ’19 Overview

This Summer the XXCoders Annual Summer Camp was held in the Wyandanch Youth Center’s computer room. The girls started out with learning Scratch, which is a user friendly coding website made by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that many K-12 students are now using. Hello Parents and Students! Today was truly an amazing day for XXCoders. We were given the opportunity to go to Google NYC for our field trip! Day 8: July 24, 2019

Hey Parents and Students! Today the girls continued to code their .html files onto their different text editors. The girls had a guest speaker, Shauna to talk to the girls. Shauna encouraged the girls by talking about minorities in the workplace and not just the technology fields to pursue their dream jobs. Day 7: July 23, 2019

Hey Parents and Students! Today after the girls ate their lunch they continued to code their blogs on different text editors. Some computers allowed ‘Sublime’ others allowed ‘Editpad Lite’ these two programs allow the .html files to be uploaded and typed out for the multiple sections and posts of their blogs to be compiled. We’ve made it through our first week! Only one more to go! Today the girls had an amazing day learning Python! In order to understand the code that we all typed as a group, we went around the room explaining and defining different methods and key terms that are used for different functions and outputs of code. Good evening Parents and Students! Today after the girls had their lunch we launched our first Python code. The girls were able to create how to roll a pair of die that produced two random numbers ranging from 1 to 6 like an actual dice.
