Last Day of Class

This past Thursday, the XX Coders celebrated their last day of class! After a wonderful 8 months, the girls have learned about HTML, CSS, Python, and JavaScript. They have made games, met an astronaut, done confidence and self-esteem boosting exercises, created their own websites, and more! One Giant Leap: Apollo 11@50

This week, XX Coders was honored to attend One Giant Leap: Apollo 11@50. This conference celebrated the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. The highlight of the conference was the speech from Dr. Mae Jemison, the first woman of color to travel to space. XX Coders is so proud to have met this inspirational role model. Last Day: Friday, July 27th, 2018

Today concluded our second annual, two week summer camp! It has been such an honor getting to know these girls and seeing them and their skills grow through this camp. Many of our students began this journey not having any experience what-so-ever with coding and found themselves today creating programs in advanced languages such as JavaScript and Python. Day 9: Thursday, July 26th, 2018

After much anticipation, the STEM Queens finally went on a trip to the Microsoft flagship store in Manhattan. They had an awesome time with the lovely folks from Microsoft! They were first taken to a private WMR (Windows Mixed Reality) workshop, where they played with augmented reality and Paint3D. Day 8: Wednesday, July 25th, 2018

The moment everyone has been waiting for! Python Day was upon us today as the girls enjoyed their lunch followed by some freelance codding on websites such as datacamp, codeacademy and snakify where they advanced their skills by playing around with more advanced coding concepts such as ‘while’ and ‘for’ loops. Day 7: Tuesday, July 24th, 2018

The STEM Queens kicked off the day by continuing coding exercises from the previous week. After a few camp days of guest speakers and fun activities, they are pumped and ready for learning different programming languages.
